As the author of more than 100 books for young readers, Lisa L. Owens has published in a variety of genres for ages PreK–YA. She writes informational and narrative nonfiction with an eye toward creating engaging texts that cultivate reader curiosity and clearly distinguish fact from opinion. In the fiction realm, she aims to offer stories kids can both identify with and lose themselves in.

 

A native Midwesterner, Lisa has lived in the Pacific Northwest since the late 1990s. Her many interests include reading great books, playing the flute, studying vocal jazz, watching classic films, cooking new dishes, taking her greyhound on long walks — and, of course, WRITING FOR YOU!

Professional affiliations: SCBWI, Authors Guild, PNWA, AWP, and EFA. Lisa currently serves SCBWI Western Washington as Nonfiction Coordinator.
